Our team at talech is as diverse as they come. Spanning the globe from Palo Alto, CA to Kaunas, Lithuania, our employees have a wide variety of backgrounds and interests. We are musicians, knitters, and basketball players. We’ve worked as waiters at chain restaurants and in tech support. But despite our differences, we all have one thing in common: our journey has brought each of us to talech.
Check out our “Meet the Team Series” each month to find out some fun facts about our team and learn more about what they do at talech. This month’s edition features Andy.
Q. What’s your name, title and where are you based?
A. Andy Bohn, I’m Onboarding Implementation Manager in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Q. How long have you been at talech?
A. 2 years.
Q. What is your favorite movie?
A. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990).
Q. Would you rather fight one horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horse?
A. I would rather fight 100 duck-sized horses. They may be many, but they are small and could be taken out with ease compared to a giant duck that can fly.
Q. What is your favorite part about working for talech?
A. Having the opportunity to expand my skill set and evolve within the company.
Q. If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A. Anything breakfast related, but if I had to choose, it would be a homemade sausage, egg, and cheese croissant.
Q. Do you have an office nickname? If so, what is it?
A. I don’t have an office nickname that has been brought to my attention.
Q. Before working at talech, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
A. The most interesting job that I’ve had was my two years as a Comic Program Manager for Phoenix Comic-Con (Now called Phoenix Fan Fusion).
Q. What’s your favorite song of all time? Have you sung it in public?
A. Choosing a favorite song is pretty difficult as I’m a huge music lover. I can pick favorites from my Top 5 favorite bands, but anything from Metallica is what I can rock out to. As far as singing in public goes, I have done so during a karaoke session, but it’s more common for me to really get into it in the card with the windows down and I don’t care who sees. I’ll sing at you if I catch you looking at me at traffic lights.
Q. What three traits define you?
A. Creative, Passionate, Driven.
Q. Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
A. I have been part of a team that earned two Guinness World Records for the most people on a book (115), and the fastest time to complete a comic from concept to print (11 hours 15 min 38 sec). The fastest time is still active as of this post.
Q. The Avengers or X-Men?
A. The Avengers. You could still be a mutant within the Avengers, and mutants have a pretty bad track record with racism against their kind, being hunted by the government and private companies, as well as being wiped to almost extinction multiple times.
Q. Where is your hometown?
A. I was born in Phoenix, Arizona.
Q. What is your favorite sports team?
A. I’ve fallen out of sports interest, but when I was a kid, it was the Seattle Supersonics, collecting all of the trading cards that I could for Shawn Kemp.
Q. What is the most recent app you’ve downloaded on your phone?
A. Legal Zoom and Warriors of Waterdeep: Dungeons & Dragons.
Q. What does a typical work day look like for you?
A. I’ll start the day gathering my daily details such as reviewing over surveys that came in, updating the agent information boards, and making sure that the devices are updated. From there, I start my day on Call QAs and meetings, while making sure that I’m available to the Tier 1 Support Agents for any assistance they may have in the myriad of things that come up.
Q. Tell us about the best vacation you have ever gone on.
A. The best vacation that I’ve been on is with my girlfriend to Kauai. Even though we had to cut the trip short by a week, we made the best of the week that we had. We went snorkeling to see all the sea life, traveled around the island multiple times to places like Kona Coffee HQ, saw some of the sites that were filmed in Jurassic Park, and ate at the local businesses. Smoked BBQ, and snow capped macadamia nut snow cones from Hee Fat General Store everyday!
Q. What hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
A. Outside of work I do work for Topps, Upper Deck, Cryptozoic and more doing trading cards for licensed material such as Rick and Morty, Star Wars, Marvel, DC Comics, and KISS. When I’m not doing that, I’m working on one of my comic series’ that I self-publish, and work on writing a novel for the world within the comics. I’ve been on a hiatus, but I’m going to be getting back into setting up at comic conventions again.
I’m also getting ready to launch an entertainment company with a friend that will discuss things from pop-culture (including games and movies) to interviewing local creators, to life topics. These will be in the form of podcasts, with video to post on YouTube, as well as streaming on Twitch.
I am also ordained, so during wedding season I am able to officiate the ceremony for those that are looking to get hitched! All of this and the standard “I like to travel”.
